Nosema antheraeae is a parasite of wild and undomesticated silkworms, Antheraea pernyi. Nosema bombycis and N. antheraeae are pathogens infecting Lepidoptera but quite different in some apspects. It is reported that N. antheraeae can not infect the domesticated silkworms (Zhang et al, 1996).
N. antheraeae YY isolate was collected from a farm in Henan province of China and preserved in our laboratory. To do a comparative genome analysis, we sequence the genome of N. antheraeae and obtained a 7.1Mb assembly.
